The Policy applies to any manuscript that:

  • Arises from NIH funded or co-funded research
  • Is accepted for publication in a journal on or after April 7, 2008
  • Is peer reviewed

What is Not Covered by the Policy?

The policy does not apply to:

  • Books and book chapters
  • Dissertations
  • Articles accepted for publication prior to April 7, 2008
  • Articles not funded in any part by the NIH
  • Articles that are not peer-reviewed (e.g., editorials)
