Durable Links: Home

Article Links That Last for D2L, Wikis, etc.

Changes to Online Resources Access

Starting in August 2023 the library begun a gradual migration to the OpenAthens authentication system to be completed by July 1st of 2024. The library is working to migrate systems so durable links you already created will continue to work. However there may be instances where a system has not been migrated yet and durable links you already created may no longer work. Please review the OpenAthens migration page for more information.

What are Durable Links?

URLs for online articles may vary from one search session to another.  To find a durable (persistent or stable) link for an article to use in D2L, wikis, and other educational sites, follow the instructions in this guide for commonly used databases and eJournal collections.

How this Guide is Organized

The side navigation column lists the major library database platforms. Click on the platform to find specific instructions on how to locate the link within those databases.

Most platforms will have a "guide on the side," tutorial that shows you where to find a stable link and how to insert the link in a D2L class. There will also be screenshots to show you step by step how to obtain a permalink from the major platforms.
