About this page

Here you'll find a sampling of industry reports all about the 5 industries that your class will investigate for potential applications of blockchain technology.  We get industry reports via larger databases (ProQuest and Ebsco) from these publishers:  Fitch Solutions, First Research, MarketLine, Plunkett.  We subscribe directly to the reports from Euromonitor International (the Passport database) and IBISWorld.

The content of these publishers varies by:

  • Length and scope
  • Countries covered
  • Industries, sectors covered
  • Data, sources used
  • Documentation provided

Consider all of these factors as you use the reports, and please understand that there is no one-size-fits-all provider.

For Passport and IBISWorld, I cannot create links directly to individual reports.  You will have to do the searching in these databases!  Here are a few quick tips:

 –  Passport:  Use the search menus!  Because this database includes content on so many countries, the search menus are very helpful.  To download reports, you must enter your full Marquette email address (fname.lname@marquette.edu).

 –  IBISWorld:  keyword searching usually works well, but sometimes using the menus is necessary.  Download the report in order to avoid scrolling right.

In addition, the IDC reports may be useful whenever there is a technology angle.

 –  IDC:  use the Advanced Search for greater functionality; a link to it will appear when you click in the basic keyword searchbox.

About industry classification

Some of these reports are labeled with something called NAICS codes.  (That stands for North American Industry Classification System.)  These codes are a way of defining an industry or sector, and are sometimes also used to organize industry reports.  For more information, see the links below.
