CSE Scientific Style

Scientific Style and Format, published by the Council of Scientific Editors (CSE), is the most recognized, authoritative reference for authors, editors, publishers, students, and translators in the natural sciences, including biology, chemistry, geology, mathematics, and physics. It was formerly known as CBE (Council of Biology Editors).

CSE style provides two different citation systems: the Name-Year system and the Citation-Sequence system (sometimes called the Superscript system). These systems differ in their presentation of in-text citations and in the way works cited are listed. Here are two guides with citation builders:
