Dissertations
Researching dissertations is an important step for graduate students because they may cover little-known authors or esoteric topics. Full text, digital Marquette doctoral dissertations are found in MARQCAT, by the author's name or by a subject search using the academic department, English, and subheading "dissertations": English--dissertations
Use Dissertations & Theses to search over two million dissertations from universities worldwide.
Search other Libraries' Catalogs
Look for books and other items in libraries near and far. Most items you find may be requested through Interlibrary Loan.
MARQCAT
MARQCAT, the Marquette Libraries catalog, lists books in print or digital format, as well as DVDs, videos, and databases the library owns. When beginning research on literature, use the author search, last name first, to find all the works or editions BY that author; example Faulker, William. Use the subject or keyword modes for books about an author or about a literary work, such as Whitman, Walt.
To retrieve a list of e-books in the Libraries, use MARQCAT's subject search, English language and literature - e-books.
To discover books recently (last month) added to the collection, use MARQCAT's "Browse New Titles" feature, and the subject, "English."
Search Google Books
Searches books in the Google Books project. Identifies and ranks books with relevant content. Click on book title/cover for more information including a 'Find in a Library' which will locate nearby libraries with the book and provide a link to search MARQCAT. If the book is out of copyright and in the public domain, the full text can be viewed.
