How to Import Marqcat Plus records into RefWorks (both New and Legacy versions)

Marqcat Plus records can be directly exported to New RefWorks and Legacy RefWorks accounts via the following instructions:

  1. Conduct your search in Marqcat Plus.
  2. Click on the Add to folder icon for each of the results you want to save
  3. Click on the Folder  icon in the upper right-hand corner
  4. Re-select the references to export.
  5. Click on the Export  icon.
  6. Click the radio button in front of Direct Export to RefWorks to initiate  a direct export. Note:  Uncheck the Remove  these items from folder after saving option, if you want items to remain in the folder after  performing the export function.
  7. Click the Save  button to begin the direct export.
  8. Your records should  appear in the Last Imported Folder .

Marqcat Plus records can also be saved to file and manually imported into RefWorks.

How to Import Marqcat (classic catalog) records into New RefWorks

  1.  First save your classic Marqcat records as a .txt file. To do this, mark the classic Marqcat records by clicking the Save Record button to the left of each record. Important: be certain to click the Save button on each page.
  2.  When you have completed searching, click on the View Saved button on the top of the screen.
  3.  To export items, choose the Full Display option and Send to local disk. Hit the Submit button.
  4.  Important: Do NOT choose the EndNote/RefWorks option as this does not well with RefWorks. Choose the Full Display option.
  5.  Name and save the download as a Text (.txt) file to a local drive.
  6.  Log into your New RefWorks account.
  7.  In the upper left hand side of the screen, click on the +
  8.  Click on the Import References option.
  9.  On the following screen, you can either import your *.txt file by dragging and dropping the file onto the "Drop file here wording" or you could click on “Select a file from your computer" then, locate your *.txt file on your computer.
  10.  Next type Innovative in the Search box.
  11.  Click on the second option, Innovative Interfaces INNOPAC.
  12.  On the following screen containing the question, "What is the format of this file?", click on the Adelphi University option.
  13.  A list of universities will appear. Scroll down and click on Marquette University (Full Display).
  14.  Click on the Import button on the lower right hand side.
  15.  You may get a screen asking "Are you sure you want to send this information." Click Continue to complete the import.
  16.  You may then get a screen, asking you to choose which version of RefWorks you wish to import the records. Click on New RefWorks.
  17.   Your saved classic catalog Marqcat records should now be added to your New RefWorks account

How to Import Classic Marqcat Catalog records for importing into Legacy RefWorks: 

 

  1. Mark the records you wish to export by clicking the Save Record button to the left of each record. 
  2. Important:  be certain to click the Save button on each page.
  3. When you have completed searching, click on the View Saved button on the top of the screen. 
  4. To export items, choose the Full Display option and select Send to local disk.
  5. Hit the Submit button.  Important:  Do NOT choose the  EndNote/RefWorks option as this does not well with RefWorks.  Choose the Full Display option instead.
  6. Save the download as a Text (.txt) file to a local drive.
  7. Log into your RefWorks account.
  8. Click Reference on the toolbar, and then select Import.
  9. Select Innovative Interfaces INNOPAC as the Import Filter and Marquette University (Full Display) as the database.
  10.  Click the radio button in front of Import Data from the following Text File, and then click the Browse button.
  11. Double-click on the saved file.
  12. Your classic Marqcat catalog records will now be added to your Legacy RefWorks account.
